Western W49 bowie knife and hand made sheath, the knife having a custom grip on one side, made of green stone, inlaid with two large pieces of turquoise, and a large piece of lapis lazuli, all roughly polished. The sheath has been extensively hand painted, but appears to have been made from the original W49 sheath. The blade has "BOWIE" stamped on one side of the ricasso in large letters, and the other side is stamped Western Boulder Colo. U.S.A. The other side of the grip is the usual wooden grip half, and it retains the brass "S" shaped cross guard (14.25-inches long with a 9-inch blade). The knife is in fair condition, with the replaced stone grip. The blade is stained and shows minor use. The sheath is rough. Please see photos.
