An interesting US Model of 1840 Musician’s sword and scabbard, but the sword has an etched blade. There are no marks visible on the sword, but there may be a maker’s name etched on one side of the ricasso that cannot currently be read. The blade has vines and florals etched on both sides. They are a bit hard to make out as the blade has an overall dark grey patina, although there is no pitting. The scabbard is intact, in black leather with conventional brass mounts. Dimensions: The blade is 27.75 inches long. The sword in scabbard is 34.5 inches long overall.

Condition
The hilt is slightly bent, with the D-guard bent in a little, and the knuckle bow pushed towards the pommel. The quillon is also slightly bent. The blade is overall grey, and although it is etched, it is difficult to make out the details, including what may be the maker’s name. The scabbard is intact, but has a slightly crude repair in the middle. Witherell's strives to provide as much information and photographs as possible but encourages in-person inspection by bidders.
