An oval silvered, die-struck badge of hollow-back construction, featuring the German Stahlhelm (steel helmet), set above crossed swords and surrounded by a laurel wreath tied at the base. The reverse is fitted with a vertical pin-back, hinge, and catch, and bears the unusual stamp “X1111”. The Silver Wound Badge was the intermediate grade of the series (between Black and Gold), awarded for three or four combat wounds, or for a single severe wound. Dimensions: 1.75 x 1.5 in.
