A lightweight, stamped silvered badge, displaying the German Stahlhelm (steel helmet) set over a pair of crossed swords, within a laurel wreath tied at the base. This example is of
hollow-back construction
, struck in thin silvered brass or zinc, making it notably lighter than solid die-struck versions. The reverse is fitted with a vertical pin-back, hinge, and catch. The Silver Wound Badge represented the mid-grade of the series (between Black and Gold) and was awarded for three or four combat wounds, or for a single severe wound.
