A scarce photographic souvenir set titled Thru the Gold Rushes of Nevada with Long Ears Johnson, published by N. E. Johnson, Photographer and Publisher, Tonopah, Nevada. The original printed envelope contains 13 black-and-white photo cards featuring composite views of Nevada’s famed mining boomtowns. Each panel includes multiple captioned scenes from towns such as Wahmonie, Weepah, Goldfield, Tonopah, Rawhide, Rhyolite, Rochester, Manhattan, Gold Hill, Reno, Eureka, Virginia City, and others, along with depictions of early gambling scenes, saloons, miners, and frontier figures like Tex Rickard and Mark Twain. The comical cover artwork shows two prospectors on the trail, referencing Nevada’s relentless gold-seeking spirit. These promotional sets were likely sold as tourist souvenirs or distributed regionally as nostalgic documentation of the state’s colorful mining past. Dimensions: Envelope 6 x 9 in.
