A rare surviving investment prospectus for the Ophir Canon Mines Company of Nevada, dated circa 1906. The 6 x 9 in. string-bound booklet is printed in black on tan card covers and features photographic plates, company data, and a large folding lithographed “Sketch Map of Nevada and the Southeastern Portion of California†issued by The Clason Map Company of Denver. The map highlights the company’s holdings in Nye County and is printed in blue with “OPHIR†marked in red. The original mailing envelope is addressed from Ralph R. Landes, a known Nevada mining promoter based in Austin, Nevada.
These promotional booklets were issued to attract investors during Nevada’s mining boom and offer valuable regional and industrial insight. Few survive with the envelope and intact map.
Dimensions: 6 x 9 in. (booklet); map approx. 14 x 17 in. unfolded.
