A really wonderful German beer stein circa 1920, of an owl, with detailed feather, glass eyes, and a friendly expression. The lid consists of his entire head, which is attached to a pewter hinge and handle top that is crested with a fine heraldic dolphin. The owl is beautifully painted, with the colors of his feathers skillfully shaded. The base is stamped Germany 1662. Size: 9 3/4 inches tall and 7 inches at the handle. Excellent to mint.
