Wonderful German stein with anthropomorphic raised designs of frogs pursuing a variety of activities including smoking a pipe, playing a lute, dancing, playing billiards, serving drinks, with ladybugs and beetles roaming about, cattails in the background, and far behind a cstle on a hill. Below the scene are the words, "Bei Spiel und Sang, Schmekt Speis und Trank." THis translates to "With Games and Song, Taste Food and Drink." The handle is actually an elongated frog, and the pewter hinge is topped by a symbol resembling a fleur de lys, and leads to the pewter lid rim which surrounds a green porcelain lid with a young frog on it. The base is stamped Germany 1555.
