A Whitney Safety Firearms Company double barreled hammerless 12 gauge shotgun, made in Florence, South Carolina between 1887 and 1895, serial number 549. This is an example of the only gun made by this company, with its innovative trigger guard safety. It is a massive, well-made gun, but has had a number of repairs and additions, including a crudely checkered pistol grip. There is an added screw on the tang of the trigger guard, and a bolt added to the front of the trigger guard. The barrel is damascus.
