A Model 1842 H. Aston percussion pistol, dated 1850. This was the regulation single shot smoothbore percussion pistol of the US Army until 1860. This one has two cartouches on the stock, and is marked US H. Aston on the lock plate, with MIDDTN.CONN over 1850 on the tail of the lock.

Condition
The gun is dark overall, with pitting over the entire breech. The gun is missing its ramrod and swivel, as well as the hammer screw. There is a small piece of wood missing right behind the vent. The stock is otherwise very good, as are the brass.mounts. There is some rust on the lock plate.
