Railroad worker Juan Quezada Celado taught himself how to recreate the style and evolved it overtime to modern styles that gained traction within trading markets, museums, and other fine art institutions. The success of the pottery's aesthetic brought its namesake, the town Mata Ortiz, out of poverty. This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA.
