Pair of large black Staffordshire style opposite facing spaniels made of black play, identified by the consignor as sewer pipe clay. They are finely crafted, with outstanding black glaze over red clay. They each have sculpted chains hanging from their collars.They are unmarked, and date from the mid-1800s..
Size: 14 3/4 inches tall, and 10 inches wide.
Condition
Very good. There are minor scrapes to the glaze on both dogs, and one dog has a hairline crack near his base on one side.
