A very fine and interesting painting of a young man in his twenties, dating from around 1820, possibly American. It is on canvas that is attached to an oak board, in a fine gilt wood frame. The young man is depicted wearing a cut-away coat with brass buttons, a tobacco or buff colored waistcoat, and a very high collar with knotted white cravat.
