A well-executed small oil painting, circa 1870, of a middle class German or Polish family in their home, a pipe-smoking father, mother, son, and baby, seated in front of a cupboard, with a cat by the man's booted foot. The painting is well-done, but unsigned, in a gilt wooden frame.
