The Moro Barung / Barong is a large leaf shaped bolo sword. They were almost exclusively used by the Moros of the Sulu Sultanate, Sulu archipelago, Philippines. The long grip ferrule on this piece is sterling silver. The banati wood "kakatua" cockatoo motif pommel is the standard for these weapons. The more ornamented, the higher the status of the owner. This one is on the simpler side but not the most simple. Has a 2 piece wood break away scabbard held together with cane.
Dimensions: 23.5" long overall, 16" blade.

Condition
Blade has a few spots of pitting near the end. Scabbard has some chips. Please see photos.
