A fine and early miniature oil portrait on copper of Lady Arabella Stuart, (1575-1615) a member of the royal houses of both Tudor and Stuart, and a claimant to the thrones of both England and Scotland. The portrait is oval, and is in an ornately carved gilt wooden frame. The portrait shows her holding a red rose - a symbol of the Tudor dynasty. Size: 6 1/4 by 4 3/4 inches. Condition

Very good. The painting is fairly dark, and seems to have a coat of cloudy varnish on it.
