Two very fine Mettlach steins of similar design, each with a fairy tale scene on it: one with scenes from Peter Pan, including Wendy telling a story to the younger children with the dog Nan, with Peter hovering to one side; another shows them all flying out the window with Tinkerbell; another shows Peter fighting Captain Hook. The pewter lid has a ceramic center with Peter flying on it. The handle is topped with a pewter finial in the shape of Mother Goose. The base is extensively marked with a large Mettlach stamp, "Peter Pan by Sir J.M. Barrie," and "Stein Number 10000/7379." Size: 7 1/2 inches tall.
The second stein has scenes from Hansel and Gretel, including Hansel & Gretel approaching the Witch's door; the Witch poking a bone held n=by Hansel through the bars of a cage; and Gretel shoving the Witch into her own oven. The pewter top has a ceramic center with Hansel and Gretel on it. The top of the hinge is topped with a bust of Mother Goose. The bottom is extensively marked like the other, with a large Mettlach stamp, "Hansel & Gretel by The Brothers Grimm," and "Stein Number 10 000/0757. Size: 7 1/2 inches tall.
