Three attractive German steins, two probably Mettlach, one clearly marked Villeroy & Boch, Mettlach. All three with pewter lids. A very fine 3/10 liter stein with raised "cameo: style decoration, showing beer hall scenes of men drinking and bowling, and a tobacco pipe on the ceramic center to pewter lid. The pewter hinge has a beer tap on top of it. Size: 5 3/4 inches tall. Interesting stein in the form of a wooden beer barrel, with wood grain painted on it, as well as knots in the wood. On the front is a circle with an ornate "S" and the number 11 in it. The handle is reddish brown, and has a pewter hinge on the top with a very fancy finial connected to the pewter lid, which has a design on it and a turned finial on top. It has a lithopane showing a boy and a girl dancing. Size: 7 inches tall. Very interesting and humorous stein, probably Mettlach, with scenes of a leering man feeding two babies with steins of beer. There are inscriptions that translate to the effect that the Mother worries that the babies cry so miserably at night, so the Father gives the babies beer at night. The ceramic handle is topped with a pewter hinge with a plain pewter lid. Under the handle is the date, "1893." There are number stamped into the base. Size: 6 3/8 inches tall. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $40.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Condition

Very good plus to excellent condition. The steins are all about excellent, but the hinges are slightly loose on the first two steins.
