Four (4) Assorted Early 20th-Century WWI Generals & Commanders Photographs

A lot consisting of four photographs featuring WWI Generals including:

  • A framed silver gelatin of German General Erich Ludendorff, a prominent WWI military commander and key political figure during the Weimar Republic. These silver gelatins were produced by Berger Photographic Studios in Munich, 1935 around the celebrations for the General's 70th birthday. 
    • Dimensions: (portrait) 9.5h x 7w inches, (frame) 15.25h x 12.25w inches
  • A framed lithograph of Field Marshal Sir John French, commander of the British Expeditionary Force in WWI. The portrait was originally captured in 1914 by photographer Reginald Haines.
    • Dimensions: (litho, sight) 7.75h x 5.75w inches, (frame) 11.25h x 9.25w inches
  • A framed print featuring officers on the open bridge of the USS Bruce during exercises, including: Commander Henry C. Gearing Jr., Captain William V. Pratt, Lieutenant Homer L. Grosskopf, and Captain Franck Taylor Evans. The image was originally captured in 1921.
    • Dimensions: (photograph, sight) 8.25h x 12w inches, (frame) 10.5h x 14w inches
  • A framed lithograph of General John J. Pershing, the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during WWI. 
    • Dimensions: (lithograph) 19.5h x 15.5w inches, (frame) 23.5h x 19.5w inches

 

This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $85.00. All FedEx packages are sent with Direct Signature Required and insured at full replacement value for a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless buyer accepts complete liability in writing. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Condition

Overall good vintage condition. There is some surface wear visible across each frame. There is a scratch in the silver gelatin, center of the General's forehead, as well as mirroring in the bottom two corners. No further wear or restoration was revealed across any under blacklight.
