Beautiful Villeroy & Boch of Mettlach stein with Art Nouveau decoration, in a deep cobalt blue finish. The main decoration consists of stalks of wheat that flow upward to surround red hearts. There is a ring of upside-down shamrocks around the base. The pewter lid is hinged to a ceramic handle in cobalt and greenish-gray, and has a pewter shield-shaped finial. The pewter lid has a ceramic center with another stalk of wheat ending in a fan of rays. The bottom is extremely well-marked, with a Mettlach stamp with VB at the base, the words Ges-Gesch and the numbers 2802 over Roman numeral II. Size: 8 5/8 inches tall.
