An Acoma, Pueblo pictorial pot by Dolores Lewis. The pot is a round body with a wide shoulder and open mouth, decorated by deer motifs all around. The rim is also decorated with a scalloped design painted in alternating white and red, an uncommon trait of Native American pottery.
Dolores Lewis Garcia (b. 1938) is a traditional Acoma Pueblo master potter known for fine-line and natural motifs ornamentation across her work. She was born into a reowned family of potters, including her mother Lucy M. Lewis, a well-known 20th-century Pueblo potter accredited for reviving many traditional Acoma designs.
