This is a 19th century, (most likely mid 19th century) Philippine Taibon / Garab Sword and scabbard. Still has original colored rope. The handle has rattan weave that shows great patina. This one likely comes from the Island of Samar. This sword was brought back as a war souvenir by Henry Wager. Mr. Wager was from Gloversville NY and was a veteran of the Spanish American War and the Philippine-American War of 1899 -1902. These were traditionally used by the Visayans of the Philippines, particularly in the islands of the Eastern Visayas and Central Visayas.

Dimensions: 16.5" blade, 25" long overall
