A framed photogravure of German-American artist Tobias Rosenthal's painting titled The Cardinal's Portrait. The original was completed in 1896 and subsequent prints were made into the early 20th-century. The artist's signature and completion date of the original painting are printed into the bottom right corner. Also printed in the bottom right corner is the notation, "Colored by W. W. Hall," who was a recognized artisan from the late 19th into the early 20th-century.
