Large 19th century Filipino Moro panabas. These are most closely associated with the Maranao and Maguindanao Moros of Mindanao Island, Philippines. The panabas was most infamously used for executions and as a formidable battlefield weapon, however, they started life as a foliage clearing tool that could serve the role of an axe or a sickle. The top end of the blade has 15 round holes filled with brass disks, these are kill marks by Moro tradition. Uses brass bands on the top half of the handle to keep blade in place.

Dimensions: 39" long overall, 23" blade. The spine a quarter of an inch thick at its widest point.
