Base Metal Alloy Vintage Beer Tray lettered "Rainier Beer" and "Made in USA." The tray tests as a mixture of Nickel and iron, making it an Invar metal beer tray. Invar was first invented in 1896 by Swiss physicist Edouard Guillaume. The Rainier Beer company was established in Seattle in 1878, even before Washington was a state. The San Francisco Rainier Beer plant was opened in 1915, just before prohibition.
