U.S. M1832 Foot Artillery Sword made by N.P. Ames. This particular example is first year of production, actually being dated 1832. The handle was cast by Samuel Huse, marked "S. Huse Newburyport" on the edge of the guard. Huse got the job because he was related to N.P. Ames' wife. He couldn't keep up with demand so within only a few years Ames started making their own handles.
Dimensions: 26.25" long overall including scabbard, 18.75" blade
