The image is grey overall, so details are difficult to make out, The image is 2 ¬Ω by 3 inches, in a nice gold colored matte, in a fine Union case with a maroon velvet pad. The case is brown, with a flattened oval with diamond shaped details, surrounded by floral swags on front and back.
Outstanding milk glass ambrotype portrait of a well-dressed man with a Van Dyke beard and moustache, a gold painted ring on his little finger, and a silk ribbon running across his shirt, probably for pince nez spectacles. The image is outstandingly clear and sharp. It measures 2 ¬Ω by 3 inches, and is in a gold colored matte, in a fine Union case in brown with a cross-like formation of cornucopias. Condition
The first image is faded to an overall grey tone. The matte and case are excellent. The second image is excellent, with minor bubbling on the emulsion.
