A lot consisting of two black and white lithographs featuring images by American illustrator Ellison Hoover (1888-1955), including:

  • Unframed Corsican Morning (1945) with full margins. Signed in pencil along the lower margin. Even toning across.
    • Dimensions: 9.5h x 13w inches
  • Unframed Parisian street scene lithograph with full margins. Signed in pencil along the lower margin. Even toning across.
    • Dimensions: approx. 9.5h x 13.25w inches

Ellison Hoover was an American illustrator notable for his atmospheric prints of black & white rural & urban landscapes complimented by ghostly details that leave room for the viewer's imagination to wander. He studied at the Cleveland School of Art followed by the Art Students League of New York. Hoover then went on to work for many newspapers and magazines including The New Yorker, The New York Herald-Tribune, Life, and many more.

Condition

Overall good vintage condition. There is visible handling wear around the margins across both lithographs. This includes, what appears to be, white-out spots along Corsican Morning right margin. However none of this affects the integrity of the images. No further wear or restoration revealed under blacklight. Please see photos.
