A lot consisting of three polychrome chalkware busts made by Esther Hunt (1875-1951). Two of the busts are children and one is a woman. All three have the artists stamped on the back.Esther Hunt was an American artist whose work focused on Asian themes, favoring portraits and busts made from the likeness of everyday people she encountered at her studios. She was born and raised in Nebraska during 1875, but soon moved to California after her mother remarried Captain John. A Frazier, one of the founders of Carlsbad. Here Hunt spent time establishing herself as a small town artist before attending school in San Francisco. She financed her education with Chinatown children portraits and busts, which gained popularity and started to be collected across the nation. This success allowed her to travel and study in cities like Los Angeles, New York City, and Paris. Hunt eventually settled in Santa Ana devoting her attention to oriental subjects with a nationwide market seeking her paintings, prints, postcards, busts, and other creations.
