‘The Bookmaker and the Bettor’ Gambling and Vice Lithograph, 1903. This lithograph style was commonly found in saloons, billiard rooms, betting shops, men’s clubs, and home bars and offices. It is not an advertisement for any brand, so to speak, rather these turn-of-the-century lithographs were displayed in gambling environments essentially as a wink, not as a deterrent. The irony was part of the appeal of their display in gambling establishments.Lower left partially obscured by frame, “Copyrighted, 1903, by James O’ Brien”Framed in oak.Dimensions: 33.75” x 27.5” framed. 27” x 21”Pickup & Shipping: Free Sacramento pickup.
