U.S. Army Engineer Collins & Co. Model No 1005 Machete. Collins made these from the Spanish American War until shortly after WWl. They were issued with smooth leather scabbards, as well as tooled leather like this example. It does not have the "COLLINS & CO LEGITIMUS" logo embossed into the leather, or any other marks for that matter. It has brass fittings on both ends. The end of the chape is open to allow moisture and sap to drip out the bottom.
