Pair of Matching Bronze Foo Dogs, Signed. Based upon stylistic cues including their broad noses and curled manes, they initially appear to have characteristics of the Japanese Meiji Period (1868-1912). However, one of the Foo Dog’s left feet is signed “PAN,†which would indicate that it may have been produced later in the Republic period (1912-1926), as evidence of the use of Latin alphabet signature .
