A matched pair of superb Chinese boxes in the form of sitting hens, decorated in heavy cinnabar over gilded bronze. The cinnabar decoration is extremely elegant and actually raised from the body of the statues. The background is finely cast in delicate geometric deasigns. The interior of the boxes are lined in fine blue enamel, as are their bases.
Sizes: 9 1/2 inches tall and 11 1/2 inches long by 9 inches wide.
Excellent condition inside and out.
