A manuscript and partially printed mining deed dated December 30, 1863, transferring interest in the W. Senter lode, Esmeralda Mining District, Nevada Territory, from Martin Levy to Leopold Levy. Signed by Martin Levy, witnessed by Frank Wirth, and notarized by W.C. Meredith (January 16, 1864), this document bears the gold foil seal of the Nevada Territory.Leopold Levy (1830–1909), originally from San Francisco, arrived in Aurora in 1862 as one of the town’s first Jewish settlers. Martin Levy—possibly a relative—served as secretary of the local Martin’s Gold and Silver Mining Company.
