A Middle Eastern Flintlock pistol, probably of Turkish origin, with chiseled breech and lock probably of European origin, circa 1780. This is a pistol such as those carried by the Mamelukes of Egypt, with a carved false ramrod. The dark wooden stock is extensively carved with trophies of arms. The fittings are brass, of European style, with a pineapple finial to the trigger guard and an escutcheon plate with a head on it. The banana curved lock plate is engraved with leaves and a female form. There is some silver wire inlay in the stock as well.
Size: 19 1/2 inches long overall, with an 11 3/4 inch barrel.
Shipping: $50.00.
Condition
The pistol and stock are very dark overall, with a heavy patina, and the barrel has pitting along the top. The lock is dark, but with no pitting. The action is very stiff, but works well.
