A Michael Price, San Francisco Hunting Knife and hand tooled sheath. The knife is a single edged straight bladed knife with stag grips, in a hand tooled sheath. The blade is clearly marked, :M. Price, San Francisco" on the ricasso. The blade is plain, straight with a clipped point and false edge, and in fairly thick, matching the boast that a Price knife could pierce a stack of silver dollars. The sheath and grip appear to be of modern origin with an inscription on the sheath attributing the sheath to M. Squyer, and the grip to Mile Silvey. Michael Price was born in Ireland, and immigrated to the United States and arrived in San Francisco in 1856. He became the best known San Francisco knife maker of the 19th century. Size: 11 1/2 inches overall with a 7 3/4 blade. Processing and shipping within the continental U.S. $30.00 plus 1.5% replacement cost insurance. Discounts given on combined lot shipping.

Condition

Very good with an excellent grip and sheath. The blade has been sharpened and has light scratches on it, but otherwise is very good.
