Louis Benett Chevalier (1823-1889) Painting, Walnut Creek Bride Lake Shore Railroad. Chevalier, born in 1823 in Erie, Pennsylvania- considered during his time as the leading American general utility artist. In 1875 he moved to Detroit where he worked for the Pullman Car Works, a manufacturer of Railroad cars. Lower left: “Walnut Creek Bridge, Lake Shore Railroad, Lucian Rust Contractor, 1852. Length 1384 ft. Height 104 ft.” Lower left center: “Chevalier-Painter” Dimensions: Framed 39.75” x 30.” Sight 33” x 23” This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA.
