In the 1880's-1890's RH Robson made and sold bicycles in the Salem, Mass. area. He capitalized on the popularity of the area's Salem Witch Trials lore by branding his bicycles the 'Salem Witch' and 'Salem Scorcher.' The two Witchy Century Gold Plated Medals (1896 and 1897) were from a 100 mile (century) bicycle ride that was organized along major historical routes in the Portsmouth area, with an obvious link to the Salem Witch bicycle brand.
