Late 19th-Century Wooden Balance Scale with Original Weights

A hand-crafted wooden scale with hinged cover, enclosing a brass beam and twin metal pans suspended by cord. Includes a set of small circular weights, several still wrapped in original cord. The exterior retains a dark, timeworn patina with traces of red pigment from an early label or decorative inlay. Likely of Asian origin, used for measuring gold, silver, or apothecary ingredients in trade. Length: 9 ½ in. This lot may be picked up free of charge from our facilities in Sacramento, CA. Processing and shipping within the Continental US $30.00. All FedEx packages are sent with Direct Signature Required and insured at full replacement value for a fee of 1.5% of the purchase price, unless buyer accepts complete liability in writing.
