A hand-crafted wooden scale with hinged cover, enclosing a brass beam and twin metal pans suspended by cord. Includes a set of small circular weights, several still wrapped in original cord. The exterior retains a dark, timeworn patina with traces of red pigment from an early label or decorative inlay. Likely of Asian origin, used for measuring gold, silver, or apothecary ingredients in trade.
