The badge was authorized 31 August 1940 for Minesweeper vessel crews. It could be awarded for: completeing three operational sorties, getting wounded during an sortie, ship sunk due to enemy action, exemplary conduct in the execution of duties, compling a specially dangerous mission in a mined area, 25 days or more escort duty.

Tomback laurels look very nice, however very little of the frosted gilding remains. Silver wash on mine explosion worn, bronze showing through on high points.
