Joshua Hendy Iron Works at Sunnyvale, California, Watercolor Painting, 1906. Active from 1905-1917, potentially later, the Commerical Art Co., S.F. produced images and advertisements for San Francisco area businesses. In this example, the Joshua Hendy Iron Works commissioned a watercolor painting from Commercial Art Co. to commemorate their new Sunnyvale facility. The Sunnyvale facility was built after their plant was destroyed in the San Francisco Fire of 1906.Commerical Art Co. artist signed “Mannel” lower right near the grove of trees.“New Plant of Joshua Hendy Iron Works at Sunnyvale Santa Clara Co. They were known for producing the ‘Path of Gold’ Arthur Putnam designed Lamp Post Street Lights that lined Market Street in San Francisco for the 1916 PPIE.
