Included is an antique auction lot notation on a small piece of paper found inside the Inro. On it is written, "No 24 in Catala, K..O..O.." and verso, "Kinko Sennin riding on the Carp. dated 1786. The attributed date of 1786 is unlikely, and the previous cataloguer confused it with other another Binwu year. On this cyclical date pattern we have 1786 of Tenmei 6, then 1846 of Koka 3, then 1906 of Meiji 3. The likely date of this Meiji-era Inro is thus likely 1906.
