Rencong Knife. These originated in Aceh, north Sumatra in Indonesia. Originally a fighting weapon, it is most often seen today in the martial art of pencak silat and worn during traditional ceremonies. Aceh folklore ascribes mystical attributes and supernatural powers to the rencong. This example's handle is in a rare form called a hulu puntung (The hilt has a truncated end and is carved with leaf shape). The blade has pamor but it is mostly obscured. Has gold damascene inlaid to tang.

Blade dark, has some pits. Scabbard has scratches and crack on top ridge. Some gold loss on tang. Please see photos.
