A very large and heavy Chinese platter similar to those made in the Ming dynasty, but probably of relatively more modern creation. The surface of the bowl is a pale gray, and the decoration is in a deep blue. It has a large rearing dragon in the center, and there is a ring around the bowl with various symbols, including plants, coins, crossed knives, and other symbols. The are a variety of flowers and leaves surrounding the rim, and in the field with the dragons. The back of the platter is largely plain earthenware, showing marks from being turned. The platter is on a heavy iron stand that was custom made for it.
Size: 28 inches across by 4 1/2 deep.
