German pre-WWI Bavarian Infantry Regiment stein to Musician Hornist Meisner of the 14th Bavarian Infantry Regiment Hartmann, 10th Company, Nurnberg, with service from 1910 - 1912. The stein is decorated with transfers and some hand-painted details, including gold painted buttons on the uniforms, and gold painted helmet plates and spikes. The center of the decoration has two musicians flanking the portraits and a painting of the barracks. Both figures are in blue uniforms with the "bird's nests" on their shoulders. The stein has two portraits, one of the Colonel of the Regiment, the other of the King.It has the usual scenes of the Regiment at rest and in action. The handle has a smooth inside, and there is a raised mask of a smiling soldier in feldmutze towards the top of the handle. The handle is topped with a fine pewter crowned lion and Bavarian shield. The pewter lid is topped with a figure of an infantryman with rifle, standing with a lion. There is a lithopane showing a soldier accepting beer from a woman. There is added gold paint on the decorations circling the base and upper part of the stein. The lid is slightly patinated on the outside, and shiny on the inside. The base is unmarked.
