Ebers remains particularly important because of the Ebers Papyrus, one of the most significant surviving ancient Egyptian medical texts. He brought it back from Egypt in 1875 where he published a major facsimile edition. This particular two volume work by Ebers was conceived as a substantial illustrated survey of Egypt and continues in notoriety today more so because of its large folio size, elaborately decorated and encrusted cover, and brightly gold edged pages. This particular example is notable due to its Very Fine condition.
