An extremely rare photo of General McAuliffe in full “jump” uniform and helmet in preparation for D-Day, wearing jump suit, steel helmet, web belt with .45 holster, and large American flag patch on his shoulder, in conversation with US Army Air Corps colonel. There are notes in pencil on the reverse identifying McAuliffe and General Courtney Hodges, although Hodges is not in the photo (8 x 12); another similar photo of McAuliffe talking to large group of Army Air Corps officers and men in front of US C-47 aircraft and a Waco glider; a framed (8 x 12) photo of General McAuliffe and his wife, Helen, on a train platform. McAuliffe is wearing an Ike jacket, and has two stars on his cap and shoulders, so this is probably soon after Bastogne. These are from the personal collection of General McAuliffe.
Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe.
