An 8 by 10 photo of General McAuliffe having the US Distinguished Service Cross pinned on him on Dec. 30, 1944 by General George S. Patton. General McAuliffe is wearing his field uniform, and had apparently just been awakened from a deep sleep by Patton saying, ‚ÄúWake up, you lazy bastard, I‚Äôm going to pin a medal on your chest!‚Äù Patton is wearing his famous Colt Single Action, awarding McAuliffe the Distinguished Service Cross. This and more is handwritten on the back of the photo by General McAuliffe‚Äôs niece. Dimensions: 8 by 10 inches. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe.
