A gilt presentation vase made by Zeitner in Berlin to Brigadier General Anthony C. McAuliffe, Division Artillery Commander of the 101st Airborne Division 1944-1945. The vase is engraved as stated, with bands of stylized oak leaves, a shield with an armored arm holding a ring, and another with three six pointed stars separated by a bar. On the base is engraved, “Normandy, Holland, Bastogne, Central Europe.” The vase is heavily gilded, of simple form, with outstanding engraving. Condition: Excellent with a minor dent on the rim.. Size: 6 1/8 inches tall and 3 ¾ inches wide at the mouth. Provenance: Estate of General Anthony McAuliffe.
