Reverse glass advertising sign for Community State Bank, with bold black and gold lettering on an elaborately etched gilt ground. The lower section reads “Deposits Protected.” in serif font, and the gilt background is richly decorated with high-relief foliate patterns.This example is signed at lower right by the renowned Chicago glass signmakers: “Rawson & Evans Co., Chicago, Pat’d.”Rawson & Evans were pioneers of reverse glass signmaking at the turn of the century, using acid-etched and embossed gilding techniques that were cutting-edge in early American commercial advertising.Dimensions: Sight: 29 ½ × 23 ½ in.
